Kakua Pâ`û - Vesting Chant

Kakua pâ`û, ahu nei kikepa
I ka pâ`û noenoe i ho`okakua ia
Apa`a i luna o Honokane pa`a i
Mâlama a lilo i ka pâ`û
Holo iho la ke ala o na manu i na pali
Pali ku kahako
Pâ`û pali Kaukini
I ka ho`onu`anu ia e ka auana
Akahi ke ana, kaluhi i ka pâ`û

Bind on the skirt, fasten the kikepa
The mist colored skirt
That was draped over Honokane
Take care lest you lose your skirt
The flight of the birds lead to the precipices
To the sheer precipices
The precipice Kaukini
Is bedecked by the traveler
At last, the binding of the skirt is done
