Nani Wai`ale`ale - by Dan Pokipala, Sr.

Kaulana wale `oe Kaua`i
Kuahiwi nani Wai`ale`ale
Me na kini `eâ
Mano-kalani-pô

He moani a`e nei ke `ala
O ka mokihana me ka laua`e
Me na pua `eâ
Like `ole o ka `âina

`U`ina i nâkolo i na pali
I ka wai a`o Nâmolokama
Me na limu `eâ
He pakika o Manu`akepa

Ha`ina `ia mai ka puana
Kuahiwi nani Wai`ale`ale
Me na kini `eâ
Mano-kalani-pô
Famous you are, Kaua`i
For beautiful Mount Wai`ale`ale
And the king
Manokalanipo

The breeze carries fragrance
Of mokihana and sweet fern
And all the different flowers
Of the land

The roar thunders on the cliffs
At the falls of Nâmolokama
And the moss
Is slippery at Manu`akepa

The story is told
Of beautiful Mount Wai`ale`ale
And the king
Manokalanipô
